What does my contribution go towards?
The KPTO budget is approximately $50,000. This covers the cost of field trips, enrichment programs, age-specific events and school supplies that the schools CANNOT provide for in the school budget.
The Kingston PTO provides 100% funding for:
Why not have the students sell a product instead?
We've done more traditional fundraisers over the last couple of decades (selling wrapping paper, candles, candy, etc.) and while it does raise money, everyone works much harder for less profit. Most products only have a 10-25% return on the sales, so we have to sell more than 4 times the amount of product (and families spend 4 times more) to raise the same amount. Many comments in the past from families were, "Can't I just write a check and be done with it!" This is especially true for families who are involved with other organizations, sports, clubs and are also required to fundraise. With a check writing campaign, 100% of your funds go to the KPTO. Keep in mind, your student can also be creative in how they help fund the fun, perhaps by "earning" the money through chores or collecting bottles or cans!
How does the campaign work?
It’s easy! Simply write one check for your tax deductible* family contribution and send it to school, along with the form, in your child’s backpack (or use the paypal link above). The campaign will start Monday, September 25th!
In addition, we are now able to accept Corporate Matching Donations. Please check with your company to see how your company can participate.
* Kingston Parent Teacher Organization Inc. is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) corporation and all donations are taxdeductible. Tax ID 26-4761034.
